Thinkquest nick: Peirong

Hi, I am Yeo Pei Rong from Singapore. I'm 14 this year and is currently studying in Tanglin Secondary School. My father is and artist and he's a Malaysian. My mother used to work but she is a full-time housewife now. My greatest dream is to become a musician or a national thrower.


The reason why I chose comic to be my topic is simply because I like comics! My first comic book was Conan, the detective. It is so interesting that I still read it now. Usually, parents do not allow their kids to read too much comics as they think that comics cannot do anything good or educate their kids. All they want then to do is to get back to their studies and forget about reading them. However, only half of this territory is correct. Yes, kids sometimes does only cares about reading comics and forge about their school work. But in another point of view, some comics also help to educate the kids and help them with their thinking ability. Comics like detective stories and mystery stories, could help the child to develop better thinking ability, provided that they want to think about the cases in the stories. Comics is not bad at all except for phonological comics etc. But as what I've said, comics need not to be read every single second. We can treat it as an entertainment. A kind of entertainment which leads us to another world of fantasy and mystery.

In a beginning,  I don't really know much about this competition.  It was my friend who was living in America who told me about this competition. I start to be interested in it. The thing that really interest me is the topic manga. I hope that more and more friends from all over the world will enjoy manga too through Thinkquest organization. At the same time, I can learn some experience from this contest.
