Computers are very complex machines! Of course, they'd have to be quite complex to be able to let you run all sorts of complex applications like word documents, spreadsheets, games, and the Internet!

Have you ever wondered how computers can do all of this? How computers can be so smart? Well, this is the place to be!

You might recall that you often see a string of 1s and 0s when you turn your computer on. What exactly do those 1s and 0s mean? Well, the 1s and 0s are the two components of the number system that your computer uses- the Binary System! In this section, we will discuss this Binary System, as well as a concept called Boolean Logic, a logic system based on the logic gates of "AND," "NOT," and "OR."

Finally, we will track the course of a computer from the time it was first turned on to the time it is shut down. Make sure you check out the section on "parts of a computer" for details on how all the individual components of your personal computer system works. Then, come back here to find out how all of these components work together!
