Many of us have
unanswered questions of the origin of hip-hop. Hip-hop has gone global from
the roots of African-Americans. It is a form of music where you can express
your thoughts and feelings through the emphatic way of rhyming. The derivation
of this unique genre of music formerly started in the Bronx with a dj from a
Jamaican by the name of Kool Herc in the 70’s. His rhymes were ab libed over
records of the genre of music reggae. Back then, party-goers would use their
inimitable ability to rhyme and recite popular phrases. It was common for the
dj to acknowledge people at the party. After he would get done acknowledging
these people, they would in turn shout their own names and slogans. As this
continued on in frequent parties, they began to rhyme with what they were shouting
out. Before you knew it, students in school would freestyle to one another with
rhymes of their own. Most people would make use of their rhymes in parties.
During that duration of time, rap wasn’t called ‘rap.’ It was rather called
‘emceeing.’ As Kool Herc advanced, he allowed two of his friends, Coke La Rock
and Clark Kent to carry out the microphone duties. They were the first emcee
team entitled as Kool Herc and the Herculoids.
