Since the beginning of the 20th century, man has discovered new ways of motion through flight. Like all other things, this new capability provided new possibilities for war. Soon races developed among nations to make the best plane to achieve air superiority. Currently, the United States leads this race. US technology has taken the idea of air superiority to an entire new level. Throughout these developments, it has been necessary for technology to advance very rapidly to meet the growing military needs. Consequently, many people are out of touch with the newest and most up to date equipment. Therefore, The Hangar's purpose is to provide detailed descriptions of current air force, navy, and army fighters and attack helicopters. It will also furnish a brief description of the first planes used in combat along with a timeline highlighting key events in the development of these war machines of today. This will be done in order to provide a logical progression from the first plane to the current aircraft.
