Another problem that arises when trees are cut down is the green house effect and global warming. Some scientists believe that the over abundance of greenhouse gases in the earth's atmosphere will cause global warming of the earth's climate within the next fifty years. Trees help limit harmful greenhouse gases by absorbing carbon dioxide, one of the most prevalent greenhouse gases on earth. If trees in the temperate forest are destroyed, more amounts of carbon dioxide will escape into the atmosphere. As gas levels go up, the earth's temperature will also rise, effecting the whole world's climate.
