Farmers and cattle ranchers are not the only ones who are destroying the rainforest. The timber industry causes major damage to the rainforest. These industries have almost completely destroyed forests in Southeast Asia. The timber industry plans to harvest rainforests in Africa and South America, as well.

There are many other threats to the rainforest. Some of these threats include rainforest destruction from cities, homes, dam construction, and mining. All of these operations cause air and water pollution.
