Deserts are also being destroyed by development. Many people think the deserts sunny weather is a perfect reason to build a home there. Businesses also bring more and more people into the desert. As populations in desert cities rise, so does the demand for water. Many desert streams, rivers, and lakes once used by animals have been drained for industries, people, and farms.
