Verdi's operas were usually associated with patriotism and were aggressive in nature. His music inspired the revoluionary feelings of his nation. His opera Luisa Miller was released at San Carlo, Naples on December 8, 1849. This opera gave a new outlook to his development of operas. Il Trovatore, which was released in Rome on January 19, 1853 won Verdi a great reputation. By this time Verdi became famous all around the globe. He was requested to write an opera for Paris on the occassion of the Great Exhibition. Verdi developed great interest for farming, and he bought an estate outside Busseto. There, he wrote his opera Simon Boccanegra.

During this period war had began in Italy. Verdi took an active part in this war. It is beleived he started a gun training centre alongwith a friend, to benefit the troops of his native place. In 1860, Verdi was elected as a Deputy to the first National Parliament. He resigned from the parliament in the year 1865. His opera, the Libera me is recognized as one of his greatest works ever written. Later he collaborated with Arrigo Boito and produced the Shakespeare's Otello in 1887 which was very remarkable as Verdi was more than 70 years old then. His last opera Falstaff which was released in La Scala on February 9, 1893 was comic. He wrote this with lot of help from Boito. On January 27, 1901 Verdi died while on a visit to Milan.
