Karate students wear uniforms called karategi. The uniform consists of a wide-fitting jacket and loose, white trousers that are typically ankle length. The jacket is fastened by a belt according to one's grade. Males are not allowed to wear under-clothing or t-shirts of any kind beneath their jackets.
