Combat
sport, grappling art, gentle way, Olympic sport. These all describe Judo.
Like its relatives, Aikido and Jujitsu, Judo uses a great deal of leverage.
Applying only a little force, Judo students can send people flying through
the air! But Judo is perhaps most compelling because it is both competitive
and complacent -- a true blend of modern-day sport and Japanese discipline.
Comprised of the words "ju" (gentle) and "do" (the way),
Judo literally means "the gentle way". As you will find, Judo students
learn to subdue their attackers without having to rely on physical strength.
