Generally
in Hapkido, beginners train in basic strikes, kicks, throws, and joint
locks. This can be practiced individually using forms or by striking pads
with a partner.

Advanced
students will continue to learn more strikes, kicks, throws and locks,
while also learning pressure points. Some schools also offer training
in weapons like the cane, short staff, and belt. Sparring practice is
offered only at the advanced level. Since many Hapkido techniques can
easily result in injury even if used while wearing protective gear, sparring
is typically limited to a certain set of techniques.
