@ Learn > Terminology

[ Japanese ] [ Korean ] [ Chinese ]

When you take up any martial art, you also learn a certain amount about its cultural heritage. This is done initially through use of the art's native language. It is not uncommon that you will hear instructors use terminology and commands during practice that may sound foreign to you. As you progress in your studies, however, the vocabulary should eventually come naturally and ultimately help your learning. The following is a compilation of some of the words that you will most likely encounter. For those who learn better by hearing, we have also included sound clips of the words being pronounced.
