Why
do we study METEOROLOGY?
Weather
is news. Every day, millions of people tune into weather forecast
on television and radio or check the newspaper and telephone- line
forecasts. Droughts, hurricanes, floods and storms are all news.
Many people such as farmers, sailors, airline pilots, coastguards,
builders and sportspeople all take a very keen interest in how the
weather is likely to affect their lives. For example, it is important
for farmers to know if the weather will be good for planting seeds,
or for a sailor to know whether there will be dangerous storms at
sea.
The
weather also gets into the news because many scientists say the
world's weather is changing and getting hotter. They think this
is a result of increasing pollution.
