This won’t do...just toss it out!

Now that we are capable of cloning at least a small embryo, we can start mass cloning for science experiments to be performed on them. Mainly, these experiments include experiments to find cures for various genetic deformities, and hereditary-or non hereditary-diseases. Many anti-cloning lobbyists argue that such cloning would be considered "killing", as the embryo would be modified to include some form of disease. This would cause pain to the future being of what the embryo is going to grow into. Even if this were just simple cloning to grow a "twin", hundreds of embryos would have to be sacrificed to get 1 clone.

This is simply a question of, once again, where life is believed to begin. The embryo is a bunch of cells with no mind, and no control of itself. A living creature is defined as something that respires and grows. In that, the embryo is a living thing. So are pigs, cows and sheep. Don’t we slaughter them to help ourselves? Sentience, on the other hand, is a totally different matter. A sentient being is in control of itself, capable of learning, understanding, processing information. When presented with circumstance, the being should be able to THINK and deal with it. An embryo can’t do that, now, can it?

We think nothing of killing an animal like a sheep, for our own needs, even if it was a living creature, and yet we have intense debates and arguments over something that could benefit mankind immensely, and yet is rejected by society.
