Mulan,
1998, it displays a large variety of three-dimensional computer-animated props
that blend seamlessly with the hand-drawn elements and
hand-painted backgrounds. These props include flags, arrows and carts. There
is also a fair amount of effects animation like the smoke and fire from the
flaming arrows and of course, the Hun charge, which is somewhat reminiscent
of moments of the wildebeest sequence in the 1994 blockbuster The Lion King.
The Hun charge sequence, however, is enhanced with a couple of low-flying traveling
shots that add drama to the danger and uncertainty of the sequence. Hand-drawn
two-dimensional characters as well as some background elements were applied
to three-dimensional billboards in order to populate scenes in this movie.
