Opinion Poll

The Poll was conducted through Web-based E-Mail to 50 people from different countries around the world (Appendix A). The ages of these people range from 16-45, all of them are connected to the World-Wide Web. These countries cover the full range of governmental systems around the world (Appendix B). A survey of 10 questions are posted online. Majority of responses came from 5 countries.

2) If you were given a chance to emigrate, would you? If so, where? why?

3) Rating yourself from 1 to10, are you satisfied with the governmental and political system in your country? Would you want it to be changed?

4) Rating from 1 to 10, what do you think of your country's military strength relative to the rest of the world?

5) Rating from 1 to 10, what do you think of your country's economic strength relative to the rest of the world?

6) Rating from 1 to 10, what do you think of your country's education system relative to the rest of the world?

7) Where do you think your country would be classified as in 15 years time? Third World? Developing? Developed? First World?

8) Rating from 1 to 10, what do you think of the equality treatment in your country in relative to the rest of the world?

9) In your opinion, would you expect your country to be globalised? For those that are, would you expect them to remain so in the next decade?

10) Rating from 1 to 10, how connected do you think your country is in relative to the world

Singapore

Q1: An average rating of 7.6 was obtained.

Q2: 66.7% felt they would not migrate. Most of them felt that was where they were born and bred. It is their homeland. A minority felt that there was a need to migrate due to the extreme pressure in Singapore

Q3: An average rating of 9.2 was obtained. Most of them felt comfortable and have confidence in the government.

Q4: An average rating of 3.4 was obtained.

Q5: An average rating of 8.4 was obtained

Q6: An average rating of 9.5 was obtained

Q7: An unanimous answer of first world was obtained

Q8: An average rating of 8.8 was obtained

Q9: Majority feels that Singapore is a globalised country and feel it would stay the same. However, a minority felt that Singapore might go on a downward recession for quite a long period of time, making it hard for it to keep its globalised status

United States

Q1: An average rating of 6.7 was obtained

Q2: Most people felt that they were comfortable and satisfied with the environment and opportunities which they had while others expressed their interest to go abroad especially for new opportunities. Most indicated Asia as their choice.

Q3: An average rating of 7.4 was obtained. Those who felt other political systems might be better did not offer any governmental system except for a minority whose choices are very varied

Q5: An average of 9.2 was obtained

Q7: Most people expressed confidence in United States keeping its first world status and would be sustained in the next one and a half decades.

Q9: Majority felt that their country's globalised status would stay on until a new idealogy is created for the country. However, a few commented that it might go towards a downfall, losing its globalised status

Q1: An average of 7.7 was obtained.

Q2: A majority expressed a wish to migrate. Most cited their reasons as the abundance of opportunities to relish their potential. However some feel that the country has more than ample opportunities

Q3: An average rating of 6.4 was obtained. Those who wanted a change in political system did not offer any comments

Q5: An average of 4.9 was obtained

Q7: Most felt that it would become a semi-developed country in 15 years time. They cited reasons as rapid growth. Some expressed that the country might not be able to grow rapidly enough for it to well developed in 15 years time

Q9: All the replies indicated that China would become a globalised country and that it would remain so in 15 years time. Most cited reason for this as the Olympics 2008 in Beijing.

Q2: Most expressed that they would not want to emigrate. They felt the country was where they are born and bred and felt remaining loyal was essential

Q3: An average rating of 9.2 was obtained. Most felt that they would remain loyal to the Queen and felt no need to change the present system of government

Q5: An average rating of 7.1 was obtained.

Q7: It was a split down the middle. Half felt that United Kingdom had is a first world country and would remain to be so. Others feel that it is quickly losing its first world status

Q9: Some felt that the country is not very much globalised as some parts of the country are not as well connected. Some felt the is very much globalised and well in contact with the rest of the world.

Q2: Most felt there was no need to emigrate to other countries. A minority felt that it was something worth thinking about the better opportunities overseas

Q3: An average rating of 9.6 was obtained. Most felt that their country was doing well and there was no need for any political change whatsoever. However, a couple felt that they feared corruption.

Q7: Most felt that the country is developing at a rather slow rate, but felt confident that the country would be fully developed in 15 years time
