Xu Zhimo is a man with passions not only for literature, but for life as well. He never stopped seeking truth, freedom, love and beauty. For him, life was like art, something that deserved cherishing.

Freedom was something Xu Zhimo could not give up in his life. Ever since he was born, he had been unwearily seeking freedom. He dreamed of becoming a bird to enjoy the freedom and pleasure of flying in the high sky. He wrote I the <<The wish to fly>> that everyone wish to fly, to fly out of this is circle of land. However, he was trapped by the rules of the old society that he could not get all the freedom that he wanted. He fought indomitably with the old society. In <<Thought in Feilengcui village>>, he wrote, I have never succumbed to the world. I have never been fettered by it.

He liked nature very much. He once said, nature is a perfect book. There are limitless meanings in every page. If only we have studied this book, we will be able to know some of its beauty. Our spirit will become richer and we may be able to achieve our ideal character.[<<Language>>];. In nature, Zhimo learnt what was meant by life. It was the nature that guided him to discover his potential and lead him to great success.

Love was something that Xu Zhimo cherished the most in his life. He never gave up of chasing love that he even sacrificed himself for love. His stories with Zhang Youyi, Lin Huiyin and Lu Xiaoman are so famous that almost everyone knows them. Many people criticized him of not being constant in love. Actually, these people did not understand him. His love for Huiyin and Xiaoman were real and sincere, otherwise he wouldn't have written so many touching poems.
