Classroom - Floods - What is a flood?

A flood is a form of natural disaster when there is more water than the lakes, rivers, oceans, or ground can hold.

There are many different types of floods. These are named for how often they occur. There are 10 year floods, 100 year floods, 500 year floods, and lastly, monsoons.
