Many different measures can be used to decrease the impact of an avalanche. Explosives can be set off the release avalanches artificially so that the damage would not be too large as compared to when the snow accumulates. Anti-avalanche contructions such as trees and fences also take the role of barriers to reduce the damages of an avalanche. In the United States, computers are used to forecast avalanches. This helps the government to inform the people on time for evacuation and safety measures, reducing deaths from avalanches. |
