Peninsular War
1808 - 1811

After Napoleon replaced the Spanish King with his brother Joseph in 1808, he had to send troops into Spain and Portugal to suppress the rebellions. However, British forces (red) landed near Lisbon and defeated the French forces there. The defeat caused the French (green) to retreat back into Spain. Although there were several attempts, the French never conquered Portugal again.

Peninsular War
1812 - 1814

After being on the defensive, Wellington went on the offensive. He continued to push into Spain until he reached the French border, where he met heavy resistance until Napoleon abdicated in 1814 ending the Peninsular War.

Russian Invasion
1812

The map shows the disastrous invasion of Russia. The tan line is the invasion route; the black line is the retreat route. The thicker the line, the more troops it represents. There is also a chart of the temperature during the invasion.

The Battle of Waterloo
June 18, 1815

A very nice plan of the Battle of Waterloo. During the battle, the French had managed to push the British back. However, the Prussians arrived on the side of the French to reinforce the British.
