There are many treatments and procedures for Heart Disease.  Medications and surgeries are the most common treatments and procedures.  One of the most famous surgeries is Bypass Surgery.  You can have a Single Bypass, Double Bypass, Triple Bypass, and even a Quadruple Bypass surgery.  A bypass surgery is when doctors take an artery from another place in the body (usually the leg) and replace it with the blocked or reduced artery.  This surgery usually takes three to six hours to complete depending on how many and where the arteries are being replaced.  As many as four arteries can be replaced at one time!  There even was a report that someone had five arteries replaced at one time!

There are also many medications you can take for Heart Disease.  One very important medication is nitroglycerin.  This medication is given to all patients that have Heart Disease.  The medicine in nitroglycerin will calm the heart if you are having a heart attack.  Another important medicine is Aspirin or Acedimeniphine.  Patients that are on an Aspirin regiment, have a better chance of preventing a second heart attack.  Studies have shown that aspirin can prevent a second heart attack if taken every day.  There are also many more medications for Heart Disease out there, but these are only some important ones we would like to mention.
