The Last Night

‘Twas the night fore 2k1

And all through the town

Radicals stirring;

And wackoes abound

The shotguns were placed

In the corners with care

In hopes that the shelling

Would be far from there

Not many were worried

For their fortunes that night

But they were all unaware

Of all evil’s delight

Y2k was over

The violence was through

Though some were cautious

They were far and few

The Russians, the missiles

They were of no crises

But what lay beyond was

Returning of vices

Not many were worried

And greed was unseen

But there was disturbance

Of humans unclean

Avarice undoubting

And futile attempts

Salvation sensation

No person exempt

Then out of the high-rise

The sirens were wailing

The fires were rising

Security failing

The riots had started

From N.Y  to L.A.

Anarchists were stirring

Declaring the day

Nobody had an idea

Of how to approach

The grim situation

Started to encroach

My TV went on

Tuned to channel one

The news was horrific

Emergency begun

There was such a panic

As crime waves did break

Soon civilians were dying

By them we forsake

Our reason and ration

Our sense of control

No one to protect us

An unfulfilled role

The man with the news

Said, “ Evacuate now!

Don’t care who you are

Just get out some how!”

Explosions of unrest

From here and from there

As mace and as anthrax

Grew into the air

The clouds over cities

Were dark and foreboding

As websites were crashing

And hackers were coding

As NORAD declared

A breach of defense

Detonation of Houston

Confirmed as immense

The world held still

As then did emerge

A sign of tranquility

Humans on the verge

It swallowed the light

From miles around

On darkness, on silence

Without a sound

The end was then coming

G.R. boy drew near

The hearts of America

Filled there with fear

But all was not lost

-Commandoes of nine-

Assailed the rioters

And then all was fine…

But this is a child’s dream

An imagining try

So millennium all

You’re not all going to die.
