The Complete Guide To (mostly) Harmless Computer Hacks.
The good: A great resource for any beginning hacker - this is what I learned on.
A terrific book that is updated about every 2 years. Great tips for newbie's and
evil hacker tricks - this book has everything you ever needed to know about
hacking. How to do it, where to go for more information etc. She gives
"Illegal" and "You might get punched in the nose" warnings.
I highly recommend at least reading this book. (not necessarily doing everything
it tells you to do) Carol's writing style is enjoyable and easy, so you won't
fall asleep.
The bad: Some of the humor in the back is a little off color. Some of the hacks
are illegal or on the edge of almost being cracker - Carol Meinel is a grey-hat
hacker, so keep that in mind. Hack responsibly! Some of the links and hacks
don't work. For many of the steps you need to get a UNIX shell account. (She
explains this)
