Hubble found out during his researches that there are different kinds of galaxies. Irregular, peculiar, lens formed, elliptical, spiral formed and beam formed galaxies. Moreover, there are dwarf galaxies, deformed couples and systems. The elliptical galaxies are the mayor galaxy form in the universe.
Our galaxy is spiral formed.
The elliptical galaxies build the final state of a galaxy. They have
no spiral arms anymore and cannot give birth to any new stars anymore.
Elliptic galaxies also develop when several galaxies crash.
The galaxies dance a “ballet” in the universe. The unite to groups,
clusters, super clusters, leave wide empty spaces free, turn around other
galaxies or with them around a common center.
Our milky way is in the local group, together with the big and the
small Magellan cloud, the Andromeda nebula, Formax, Leo 1+2 and about 25
other galaxies in the local group.
Together with the south pole group, the haunting dog group, the Virgo
cluster and other groups the local group builds the Virgo super cluster.
Our local universe is made up from the Virgo super cluster, Coma, Pisces,
Cancer, Cluster B, Gemini, Ursa Major 2 und 3, Hercules, Corona and many
