Our Experiments with HydroponicsS.H.A.R.P. actually did three different experiments with hydroponics:
The First Attempt: Yes, They Can Grow Without Soil! This experiment was intended to test the effects of magnesium on radish growth. However, some things went wrong and many of the plants died, so it turned out as an experiment to test that hydroponics actually worked. It did work, and the radishes we grew were pretty good! What do you think happened that initially killed off most of our radishes?
The Second Attempt: The Murder Plot That FailedThis experiment was also intended to test the effects of magnesium on radish growth. We grew radishes with no magnesium, with normal amounts of magnesium, and with double the normal amount of magnesium. We predicted that a complete lack of magnesium would kill the radishes, but something foiled the plan! What do you think messed up our experiment?
The Phosphate Experiment: Don't Try This At Home (Or Anywhere Else)This rather unscientific experiment, which we performed on a small scale as kind of an afterthought, was an attempt to find out whether using a different mixture of nutrient solution would make the radish roots grow better. The radish roots did grow slightly better, but we still would not recommend growing radishes this way. What do you think happened that made us feel that this isn't such a good idea?
