Tumor
A tumor is an unusual growth of cells in the body due to mutation. There are two types of tumor; benign and malignant. A benign tumor is a type of tumor growth where the cell growth is localized in one area and can be easily removed. A malignant tumor is the most dangerous type of tumor growth in that the tumor cells break up and are carried in the blood to other tissues affecting them. A tumor can develop in any body tissue or organ. Tumorswhen recognized by the body's immune system, are attacked and destroyed preventing further growth. However if the growth gets out of hands it may spread in the body developing into cancer. If left untreated at an early stage cancer can prove to be fatal. Other diseases related to tumor are Neurofibromatosis, Fibroadenomas, Myelomas, Malignant Melanoma, and Bronchial Carcinoma. Tumor growth can be caused by a number of ways- viruses e.g. HIV-I, over exposure to sunlight, radiation, Oncogenes (disease causing genes), dietary, and genetic factors.
The most common forms of treatments for tumor are surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy.
