A large problem for adult amputees is the loss of the ability to be productive in the workforce. This is the reason the United States has set up an agency that helps disabled workers return to their jobs. Insurance companies also have programs to help injured workers return to employment. Some amputees are unable to return to their old jobs. For them, vocational services determine their new type of work. An evaluation of them is made and then training is given for the job in which they are determined to be best suited for.
