| 'Aspergers Syndrome' |
| I have Aspergers Syndrome and was diagnosed when I was 6. I am now 15. If anyone wants to know what it is like to have Autism firsthand you can reply to this and ask questions. I know lots of strategies to use to get through difficult situations. |

| 'Autism + Computer Learning' |
Hello All,
I am a student currently studying for my MSc in computing and Design at the Universtiy of Ulster, Magee. For my thesis I aim
to develop a CD Rom which will aid children with Pervasive Developemntal Disorders.
After attending a summer school organised by PAPA I was advised to contact the forum, as it would be a good place to start in
order to get some positive feedback from parents. At present I am finding it exceptionally difficult in obtaining positive
parental feedback. I feel that if I can ahcieve this then it will reveal elements which will really make a difference within
my design. It will also provide the opportunity for parents to present their own individual thoughts and notions on the
subject ultimately leading to a design which will 'make a difference'.
At present my idea is to design a game which will involve more than just the child interacting with the computer - an element
will be incorporated within the game which will encourage the child to consult his/her surroundings, ultimatley enhancing the
childs social skills.
If any parents or professioanls out there are interested in this subject I would appreciate any from of feedback - general
thoughts, experiences etc. If at all possible, I would appreciate correspondence via e-mail, as I have short questionnaire
designed to identify relevant design issues (my address is peteredhughes@hotmail.com).
Thanks,
Pete. |

Yes for 12 years my daughter has been misdiagnosed. She most likely has asperger's syndrome. She will soon be nineteen and we are trying to help her. Public school has been no help and all, but with a few doctors and patience. I am finding there is light at the end of the tunnel. As long as the Lord is by our side, we will make it. Send me your questions to Holly @outlaw652002@yahoo.com
God Bless |
