'A chance to voice your opinion!!!'
Hello All,
I have previously posted a message with regard to the design of a CD Rom style game for children with PDD's. The response's I've had have been quite remarkable, thanks. However, if I could gather further info regarding paental feedback with respect to the design it would further enhance the overall design process. If you would rather contact me via email then please do: peteredhughes@hotmail.com
This is your chance as a parent to voice your opinion on the design of the game!!!

The following are a list of questions aimed to identify what the game should do/include....any form af feedback to any of the questions will be very beneficial to me.

Questionnaire
This questionnaire has been designed to identify the requirements of children suffering from PDD disorders. It also aims to identify which ways the children will best respond to the design and implementation of such a system.

The findings of the questionnaire shall be used in order to design an educational CD Rom, which will encourage and stimulate the children into learning in an innovative, alternative and exciting manner- ‘edutainment.’ The final design will ultimately aid the children with their day to lives as well as providing them with a means of social integration.

Please do not feel obliged to answer all questions if they are in anyway intrusive.

GENERAL:

Q.1. What specific PDD (Pervasive Developmental Disorder) does your child have (e.g. Autism, Aspergers, other PDD)?
...................................................................................................

Q.2. Does your child have additional conditions or health problems (ADHD, Semantic pragmatic Disorder, OCD etc)?
...................................................................................................

Q.3. What age group does your child fall into?
...................................................................................................

Q.4. In your experience what form of stimulation does your child best respond to (sound, colour, music, shapes, other, a combination)?
...................................................................................................

Q.5. What environment seems best to stimulate your child (Outdoors, indoors, fantasy, etc)?
...................................................................................................

Q.6. In your experience what current method(s) works best in aiding your child’s development (e.g. computer, board games, books, one to one tuition, physical interaction)?
...................................................................................................

Q.7. Is there any particular sort of work, which you see carried out, which seems to benefit PDD children in terms of improving their interaction skills?
...................................................................................................

Q.8. What does your child typically prefer to do within their recreational time? Why might this be? (e.g. Board games, painting, group play, computers/video games)
...................................................................................................

Q.9. If given the offer of learning through conventional methods or computer simulated tasks, which do they prefer?
...................................................................................................

Q.10. What day-to-day activity best stimulates and offers a sense of achievement to your child?
...................................................................................................

Q.11. Are there any particular icons or characters with which the children particularly respond (cartoon, games characters, T.V personalities, sports)?
...................................................................................................

GAME:

Q.12. Do you feel the use of 3D style graphics (such as those found within games consoles) within such a game would help to enhance or detract from the child’s overall experience?
...................................................................................................

Q.13. In relation to social interaction what content do you feel would be best addressed through the implementation of such a CD Rom (e.g. Communication Skills, Play, Money skills etc)?
...................................................................................................

Q.14. As a parent what acitivites/gameplay would you like to see incorporated within such a game?
...................................................................................................

Q.15. Do you feel there is a particular target age group, which would best respond to the design of such a CD Rom style game?
...................................................................................................

Additional Comments?
...................................................................................................

If you would like to contact me via email then please do not hesitate - peteredhughes@hotmail.com
Thankyou – your time and participation is very much appreciated.

'Adult Autism'
I'm really glad to see a web site that deals with this topic. Adult Autism is a serious problem and consideration. More often than not, problems arising from Autism as a child and young adult, carry over into adulthood and manifest themselves in may ways. My recollections relate to teasing and being picked on which contributes to possible self-esteem problems and inabilities to compete effectively in various settings - athletics, business, social, etc. Shaking the bonds and past memories can be difficult. Finding a niche where I can be happy and not feel threatened is a challenge. I do not particularly find interaction with other people all that satisfying, but at the same time need interaction. I think that web-sites like this one could be a valuable resource for dealing with those problems effectively. It is probably too late for me because my condition was diagnosed in mid-life, but it is not too late for younger people who need the resources of experts and other people with various forms of Autism.

'Monsanto Roundup GE food'
----------------------

Monsanto and genetically engineered soy and genetically engineered food cause autism, ADD, ADHD -

Basically, when Monsanto et al implant the genes in the soy to make the soy "Roundup ready"(resistant to the Roundup so the weeds die and the soy lives), they also implant into the soy "marker genes" and other material at the same time - when a pregnant woman, for example, eats the GE soy, the "horizontal gene transfer" from the GE soy to bacteria in her gut causes this NEW, UNNATURAL bacteria to pierce holes in her gut - these holes let the new bacteria and amyloids and other peptides into the bloodstream - this stuff in the blood can now manifest anywhere in the body - skin, psoriasis and dermatitis; brain, MS and headaches and schizo and tumors and hypothalmus; all the other organs and their associated diseases - hundreds of them -
also, her unborn is now affected through her blood, and her mother's milk is now affected after the kid is born - in the very young the brain is affected first, autism and brain aging; and more and more kids on soy formula; if they make it through this very young stage, there's ADD, ADHD, asthma, hundreds of others when they get older.
These diseases were around before GE soy, but they are multipying across the globe because of the GE foods.

AUTISM - "LEAKY GUT" and GE SOY -
P. E. Hurcombe

THE ARENA
Causation vs. statistical association. Ouch! What? When the statistical association of aspirin and Reye's syndrome caused the medical community to stop giving kids aspirin, before any formal research was completed, this was statistical association.
I contend that the genetically engineered soybean and other GE foods are causing the skyrocketing incidences of autism, ADD, ADHD - along with the associated school shootings, youthful crimes, and maybe even Lee Malvo, aka "The Sniper".
Monsanto, the giant chemical company, is in the forefront of genetically engineered food research. Their biggest selling product is Roundup, the glyphosate-based herbicide that, unfortunately, has a tendency to kill the crops as it kills the weeds that grow alongside. Idea: genetically engineer the crop so it is resistant to Roundup, soak the fields with the Roundup, and Voila! - the weeds are gone, and the crop is alone, standing tall, and much less labor is needed to weed the old garden.
OK, except, when Monsanto genetically engineered their soybeans, their derelict, limited testing of the GE soybean on humans was only matched by their now blind eye and continued fostering this poison on an unknowing public.
Typical neo-liberalism raising its sorry head; everything for everybody! The old-line farmers contend, and conservatively so, I must say, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!" "Let us weed the fields and grow real food!"
THE FACTS
The facts are so excruciatingly simple as to be almost an anti-climax. The massive growing of the GE soy started in 1996; 74% of the soy produced in the US in 2002 was GE soy.
The massive increase in autism in the very young started in 1996, with some states registering a 5000% and more increase in 2002. In 1992, there were 12,000 cases in the US; in 2003 the estimated number is 150,000+. 25% of newborns in the US now consume soy formula. Dr Jill Schneider of Lehigh University Says "the [soy] products [are] linked to... accelerated aging in the brain." "I would not feed infants soy products." US specialist Dr Eric Courchesne(Nov 2002) told the World Autism Congress in Melbourne he has discovered that by the time an autistic child is about four, the size of his brain is equal to that of a normal 12-year-old.
Pediatrician Dr Linda Rodriguez says "ADD, ADHD, autism... [are] a bio-chemical imbalance in the brain. I have found that virtually all children I see with ADD & ADHD, etc. have a candida problem[caused by "leaky gut" syndrome]."
Dr Mae-wan Ho(along with the Gebhard & Smalla paper) says the "marker genes" in the GE soy - these show scientists where the new genes accumulate in the soy - along with all kinds of foreign material used to facilitate the GE procedure, cause "horizontal gene transfer" into bacteria in the gut. This new antibiotic resistant bacteria open holes in the gut and let proteins and all kinds of undigested matter directly into the blood, which go to the brain - I say causing the brain aging, ADD, ADHD, and autism.
Statistical association. Remember aspirin? GE soy same-same.
------------
Next up? Over 36 foods now genetically engineered and unlabeled and widely distributed.

This is just the sort of clap trap that gives the internet a bad name. You have the right to your own opionions but the responsibility to ensure that they are correct before pushing your views on others

'Response to Monsanto diatribe'
Just believing that something is true does not make it so. Why do you think the Roundup or marker genes transfer to bacteria in the gut? You seem to believe it becausethat would make the Roundup-soy a bad thing. The transfer of DNA between different sources does not happen all the time, usually under controlled circumstances with an agent to make it happen (not stomach acid).

'My Autism'
I have known for some time that I am Autistic on some level however due to an unsympathetic GP and a parent who refuses to see my behaviour as nothing more than a product of her bad parenting I am being left to rot.

I have no friends and have always had great difficulty in interacting with others, I have never been sexually intimate with anyone as I loathe being held and touched, I repeat phrases and words over and over and am often seen by others as "weird" and "not right".

What can I do about this? I am 28 years of age. I also live with klinefelter's syndrome and wonder if this has been the cause of my behaviours.

'Klinefelters and Autistic'
I lived with a man who was diagnosed with Klinefelters and he clearly also had behaviors that I would call Autistic and or schizophrenic. I am a nurse and worked with children with Klinefelters and autism. What is the current thoughts on your child?
