What causes autism?

previous subject

Autism is due to physiological dysfunction within the brain. However, the cause of autism is still unknown. Research strongly suggests that autism is caused by certain factor(s) which affect brain development. These factors possibly include genetic factors, pregnancy/ birth complications, viral infections, metabolic disorders and congenital anomaly syndromes (birth defects). It is important to note that autism is not caused by bad parenting. No factors in the psychological environment of the child cause autism.
