There are many reasons why we remember. If we didn't have sensory memory , we wouldn't be able to detect motion. Remembering skills in sports demonstrates procedural memory
  • Autobiographical memory - what makes up an individual's identity.
  • Collective and Cultural memories - memories shared by a group of people. These communities can shared memory through museums, libraries, memorials, and time capsules, as well.
  • Memorials created to keep alive the memories of specific events or people.
  • Learning - another reason people want to remember. Throughout school, both memory and memorization are an integral part of the learning process.
