Write
it down! To remember your assignments, keep an assignment
notebook that you take with you to and from school every day. Make sure it has dates marked on it so that
you don’t forget which day the assignment was given or due! Write down all of your assignments for all
of your subjects. Don’t just write it
on a random piece of paper – you may lose that. You may want to check with your
teacher to be sure you’re not missing anything.
Plan it out.
Right after school each day (even Friday!) estimate how much time you will have
to spend on homework before the next school day. This way, you can plan out your time. If you’re the kind of person who likes to play first, you will know
how much time to allow for play and how much time to reserve for completing
your homework. This is especially important
for weekends, because you don’t want to be left with more than you can do on
Sunday night! If you don’t know how
long something takes, try it out. You probably realize that it takes you a certain amount of time
to get a certain number of math problems done, or a certain spelling drill written,
etc.
Write it ALL down!! Don’t just write down your assignments and
when they are due – write down what books you will have to take home with you,
and what books you will need to bring to school with you the next day.
Make
it a routine. Check that your bag’s packed at the same time
each day – a good time to do it would be right before bedtime the evening before.
This way, you will not be running around at the last minute looking for
where you have put something.
Keep
Extras. Always keep various small supplies in your
desk or backpack. That way, you don’t
have worry each day about if you’re going to need to a red pen to make corrections
or a highlighter. You’ll be prepared,
whether or not the teacher warned you in advance! It no longer becomes a memory problem!
