At first glance this picture may seem to be quite ordinary. If you cannot notice anything perculiar then look closer, over to the right side of the photograph. If you look very closely it appears to be a small dark shadow, perhaps a person in a black robe of some kind. Is it a ghost?
On the outskirts of Glossop ly the ruins of an old Roman Fort called Melandra. The Pennie garrison of this had access to another fort at Brough called Anavio via a narrow path. And this path is famous for sightings of ghost Roman soldiers.
Reports of spectral (ghostly) Legionnaires marching on Bleaklow have been recieved by the wardens of Peak National Park and on special occassions entire legions of them are sighted. This allows witnessess to see their clothing and weaponary in great detail, exactly as it was at that time. There is a legend that says that the best time to see the whole army is at the night of the first full moon after the spring equinox, when they are seen marching across Moorland.
