Maitland Gaol

Maitland Gaol is in Maitland, NSW, Australia. Since it was built, it has been home to many criminals and has been host to many deaths. The gaol has recently been closed down due to its extremely bad condition and it was thought that it would be cheaper to build an entirely new gaol rather than repair the current. Thus, it is now but a tourist attraction.

It was known by inmates before the closure and now by psychics, tour guides and even some tourists that the spirits of some of the thousands of people that this place was home to remain to this day. Non-believers have even sworn on sightings of ghosts and the feeling of the pressence of spirits. I could never tell every story surrounding this historic construction, but I can tell you some, most of which are very short and have no evidence except for the word of first hand witnesses.
