Alone and furthest east in the Pacific ocean lies Easter Island, a small dot of land with an uncertain history. It was once peppered with vast and luscious greenery, but now the weather has changed and many of the plants and animals have faded away over the years.
Standing tall on the furthemost edges of the island are lines of gigantic beacons of stone called the moai. These immense stones have been carved into human-shaped heads and torsos. The biggest of them weighs 90 tons and stands 32 ft tall.
