Graphical Solutions of Simultaneous Equations

Simultaneous equations can be solved by plotting graphs and finding their points of intersection.

The points of intersection of any two graphs, not necessarily linear polynomials, are the solutions to the two equations.

Consider the equations y = x2 and y = x + 5.

Plotting their graphs,

The solutions will be the co-ordinates of A and B.
