Welcome
. . . to the Wonderful World of the Periodic Table! We have designed this website to be a functional learning tool. You will explore atoms and their characteristics as relating to the standard Periodic Table of the Elements.
In this website, we will primarily be using the standard Periodic Table. There are other elemental tables which group the chemical elements differently. We address these alternate organization forms briefly. In learning about the elements and periodic trends, we ask you to analyze patterns and recurring characteristics found in the elements. You will have an opportunity to submit your own variations of the periodic table and trend diagrams.
Upon entering this website, we expect that you have some prior knowledge of basic chemistry (such as the composition of atoms by protons, electrons, and neutrons), while more advanced chemistry such as electron configurations is not necessary but nonetheless useful. If you need help, or if there is any term of which you do not know the meaning, look in our glossary, or use our links to other related chemistry sites. Of course, you can always email us with a question using the links at the bottom of each page.
Happy learning!
