This is an interview with medical genius Dr. Gene E. Yus. The interview taken on May, 7, was done by yours truly, Reporter Jim!
RJ: Hello Dr. Yus.
DR.G: Please, call me Dr. G.
RJ: Ok, hello Dr. G, how are you?
DR.G: Fine, and you?
RJ: Good, now let’s get down to business. What are some of the signs of cancer?
DR.G: Well, do you have a specific type of cancer you want
to learn about?
RJ: Well, tell me about stomach cancer, lung cancer,
breast cancer, and pharynx cancer.
Dr. G: Stomach cancer is the second most frequent type of cancer. Many people do not know this fact, except for doctors and people like me. Stomach cancer mainly occurs in China and Japan, so someone who doesn’t live in these places probably won't get this type of cancer. Chances of survival with this cancer are pretty good. It’s 53% in Japan, 21-34% in North America, and 29% in New Zealand and Australia. Diet is a major factor in terms of getting this type of cancer, of course. There has been a steady decline in the amount of new people diagnosed stomach cancer. This is because of improvements in hygiene.
RJ: Ok that’s enough, please tell me about lung cancer now.
DR.G: Ok, fine, but I could have told you a million more things about stomach cancer.
RJ: Please Dr. G. We have a limited amount of time to talk.
DRG: OK, lung cancer, where do I begin? Ah, lung cancer is the most common type of cancer, especially with men. The highest amount of cases is in North America and Europe. Cases are somewhat high in South America and Australia.
RJ: What are the survival chances for this type of cancer?
DRG: Well, lung cancer is often fatal and survival chances are pretty low for anyone. I’d say 15% of the people who get lung cancer survive in America. In Europe survival chances are lower, only 8%.
RJ: Oh, not to good then, huh?
DRG: Nope, but remember, a 15% chance is better than a 0% chance. So, as I was saying, the highest cause for lung cancer is smoking. That is one more reason to not smoke, people!!! Over 80% of male lung cancer patients got it due to smoking. Nearly half of the female lung cancer patients got it due to smoking.
RJ: That’s interesting, *YAWN*. So I think that that’s enough info Dr. G.
