Crazy Horse, is another great site for tourists in the Black Hills area. Korzczak Ziolkowski was born on Sept 6, 1908. 30 years earlier, was the day when the great warrior, Crazy Horse, had died of severe stab wounds, making this memorial especially important to the Native-American culture. Ziolkowski died in 1982, but many of his close family members and friends continue to build the structure. Although the project has not been completed yet, many visitors enjoy watching the progress as the sculpture continues to be built.
Many visitors enjoy viewing the monument for the cultural aspect
of life. Many people believe that this sculpture represents freedom
and the struggle to attain it. Most people believe that this is
what Crazy Horse had lived and died for. As the monument continues
to be built, the final copy of the sculpture can be found within
the park as Crazy Horse stands pointing to the exact spot where
his brethren had lived and died so long ago.
