Welcome
to Cyber United Nations (CUN). This site is designed to educate users about
the United Nations. It contains information about the history and the potential
future of the institution, as well as how the organization functions. Once
the user understands how the UN functions and what the goals of the organization
are, he or she will be encouraged to become a Cyber Ambassador, and will be
asked to participate in a debate with other Cyber Ambassadors. At CUN, we
encourage people from different backgrounds and nationalities to become Cyber
Ambassadors, thereby fulfilling the international ambitions of the CUN, and
we hope that they will be able to teach and inform other Cyber Ambassadors
about a given topic by shedding a different light on it. The site is multilingual,
so that the language barrier does not become a learning barrier, and so that
people from around the world will learn to cooperate and understand each other.
Taking part in the Cyber Debate will require extensive research in the fields
which are to be discussed, as well as in those which pertain to the respective
country the ambassadors represent in the CUN. By participating, they will
acquire the following skills: - Diplomacy - Debating - Researching - International
cooperation - Interpersonal skills - Knowledge of international relations
and politics - Extensive knowledge of a particular country - Use of the Internet
as a learning interface - Knowledge of world events acquired through the news
- Understanding of how to make the world a better place We also encourage
the use of this site by students for school projects, and by anybody who wishes
to enhance their general education. You are always welcome to send us an e-mail
if you have any questions of academic concern, and we will try our best to
answer you, or to direct you towards sources where the answer may be found.
Note to teachers
Teachers around
the world are encouraged to used the Cyber United Nations as a learning tool
for their classes. The site contains information which is of great value for
research, and the interactivity of the Cyber Debate will allow students to
explore their ideas and push them to the limit by having them challenged by
other Cyber Ambassadors. The Cyber Debate is made so that it is appealing
to the young user, since its interactivity almost makes the art of debating
a game. There is no age limit to participate in the debate, but we hope that
your students will have the academic maturity to use the site in a responsible
manner, and be able to explore new ideas and challenge old ones.
