The Weeping Willows

Once there were ten very beautiful sisters. On a very hot day they were sitting next to a river. An old man came by and asked them to give him some water. Nine of them laughed at him and said that he was an ugly old man and they will not help him. The one sister was very ashamed of her sisters.

However, this old man was actually a magician and was very mad at them. To punish them he turned them all, but the polite one, into tall Willows that stood next to the bank of the river. The one sister that was left was shocked and ran back to her parents.

The parents were horrified and tried to cut down the trees but as the father chopped blood came gargling from the trees and he was forced to stop. They sent their only daughter away to another land out of fear but they could not escape and dwell among the drooping trees forever.
