Comprehensions Comprehensions
can be boring and rather tricky at times.
Although teachers maintain that these Reading Studies are
beneficial for our ability to reason and to understand extracts, we all
know that these ‘educational comprehensions’
are time-consuming and are just set up to confuse us and to
purposely trick us. To
conquer these reading study demons, be sure to remember the following
tips:
1.
Always read the questions regarding the
comprehension
before reading the
actual piece of writing.
2. After you have read the questions, go through the comprehension thoroughly, making sure you understand everything. Underline anything you don’t completely understand, so you can come back to it later if its important. Small things that you don’t understand should become clear when read in the sense of the whole sentence/paragraph. 3. Read the comprehension again if you are not entirely certain of
what’s going on.
4.
Go back to the questions when you’re confident with the passage.
Don’t waste your time on questions that you aren’t sure
about – you can always go back to them when you’ve completed the
ones you are sure about. 5. Answer the questions with full sentences, ensuring that
you’ve made your thoughts and ideas clear. Hopefully
these tips will help you to get brilliant marks for your comprehensions,
without you throwing tantrums, screaming, shouting, kicking, punching or
pulling out your own hair in frustration.
