Close-up: Mechanical Clock This cuckoo clock is a modern version of one of the first types of mechanical clocks. These clocks used weights that would slowly drop, turning a gear inside the clock that would move the hands to display the time. Most of these clocks were found in large towers. Some people believed that it was just a trick and that someone was really just sitting up in the clock and turning the hand. |
