Treatment

                Because there is no known cure for HPS, treatment is supportive in nature. Early intensive care management and correction of electrolyte, pulmonary, and hemodynamic abnormalities is critical to recovery from the disease. Intraveneous Ribavirin has been proven to be effective in cases of HFRS, but it has not been proven to work in HPS. This may be because symptoms may be more a result of immune response than actual viral invasion.
