Disabled people can also do sport such as archery, floor soccer, horseriding, swimming, basketball, wheeelchair aerobics, tennis and athletics.

The disabled olympics competition is a must.  Well done to organisers of  this great event.  It only encourages disabled people to achieve their important goals in life.  There are a lot of  good companies in South Africa who go out of  their way to sponsor our disabled athletes.  WELL DONE.

Sport does not have to mean playing tennis, squash, soccer etc.  For a disabled person sport can mean "exercise".  Why should a disabled child be left out when playing hide and seek for example?  If  the child can get around why not include them in the game.

Can a 'normal child' play sport with a disabled child?   A most definite YES.

Have you heard about floor soccer?  The game is played on the floor and you move around very fast on your bottom.  You use your hands to hit the ball.  A "normal child" can definitely play this game with a disabled child.

Wheelchair aerobics is another sport that "normal children" can participate... just find a chair while the disabled child sits in a wheelchair.

For the disabled person, sports is a huge challenge.  Whilst doing sports, the disabled person is also exercising their bodies.

Blind floor soccer is taking off  in South Africa as well as wheelchair rugby.

Disabled people living in Gauteng are very privileged to have the Mandeville Sports Facility available to them.  We need more social get togethers for the disabled... a place where we all look alike and can socialise and enjoy ourselves.  What about disco's for the disabled?  We can dance just as well as a "normal" child.
