What is it?

In the whole of Britain, the “Most Important Prehistoric Structure” title has to be awarded to none other than the famous Stonehenge. There are none like it in other parts of the world, and has been the cause of awe amongst visitors to Britain. Stonehenge is not what it used to be. The Stonehenge of today is in a state of great ruin. Stonehenge used to look like the picture at the right. Stonehenge was probably used as a ceremonial ground 5000 years ago. Stonehenge is built in the shape of concentric circles, with various stones scattered around it. Stonehenge has a fairly distinct path that is marked with a solitary stone (the Heel Stone), and it coincides with the rise of the midsummer Sun. The Heel Stone can also be seen in the left arch formed by the standing stones. Despite each stone’s huge size (about 21 feet tall) and weight (about 44 tonnes), they were moved, and some even disappeared and brought away. Stonehenge used to be openly available to the public, but people took bits of stone from Stonehenge, contributing to its deterioration, and Stonehenge has now been fenced up with a rope. In Britain, there are countless other “standing stones”, but Stonehenge is the most famous of the lot. This is a picture of Stonehenge with a CROP CIRCLE nearby. Is this, by any chance, a coincidence?

What it is believed to be

Stonehenge was probably a structure for worship of some sort, but it is only a hypothesis. It could be that Stonehenge was built to show off, to observe the sun’s movements, the moon’s movements etc. However, legend has it that aliens were involved with the creation of this megalithic monument. It is said that this was built to worship the aliens, or maybe even created by aliens.

Conclusion

No one can be sure what Stonehenge was built for, and whether alien races were involved. Perhaps this is a mystery that will never be solved, but people are still free to make their own conclusions and hypotheses.
