What is it

Ball lightning sightings have been witnessed very frequently. The similar thing in all cases is that a spherical ball of light, varying in size are always seen. Also, these ball lightning sightings all take place during a storm. Also, the continent of North America seems to be the place where these sightings are seen. Like in one case, where this person spotted a ball of glowing light squeeze through a small gap above the windowsill and enter his room. The ball lightning then when around his room and soon, made it's exit, and almost immediately, a loud firecracker like retort echoed from the other side of the room. 

What is believed to have happened

People believe these these ball lightning are cases of the unexplained. They believe that these are ghosts, spirits, restless spirits that has returned in the form of lightning. No one has ever been able to actually convince themselves that what they had saw was actually an optical illusion, for it was too real, too believing, and certainly, did not just look like an optical illusion.

What scientists believed 

Scientists has dismissed ball lightning as an optical illusion, an after-image on the eye's retina resulting from a lightning flash. 

Conclusion

Witnesses of the ball lightning phenomena clearly believe these are works of the unnatural. Scientists were also given a setback when an extremely qualified eyewitness professor from an electronic laboratory said that he had saw ball lightning in an airplane during a storm. The air hostess had also confirmed that sighting. Whether or not ball lightning exists, we do not know, but one thing is for sure that this is once mystery that today still remains unsolved.
