maintain lucid dreams once you acquire them: Once
you realized that you are dreaming in lucid dreams, sometimes it might be difficult to
stay lucid.
The Lucidity Institute recommends the following exercises to
maintain lucidity:
- "[I]f the dream shows signs of ending,
such as a loss of detail, vividness, and apparent reality of the imagery, the technique of
"spinning" can often restore the dream. You spin your dream body around like a
child trying to get dizzy" and try to say to your self that the next dream will be a
dream.
- You may also try to rub your hands together in lucid dreams
when you realize that you are starting awake. Try to rub your hands violently, while
feeling the sensation and heat coming from your hands. At the same time, try to say to
your self that the next dream will be a dream.
These methods are proven to be effective because motion is
effective in maintaining lucidity.
