In the late 1960s the Hippy movements took the line of the experiment further, encouraging the adoption of ethnic clothing (especially Indian garments), long robes, beads and long hair. Flowers, the Hippy symbol of peace and love, were transferred to the patterning of even quite conventional garments such as shirts and ties. The form of men’s clothes remained much the same.
