The 60s were full of colour and expression. The public controlled the fashion scene. Anything went.... anything that the stars wore. Primary colours were mixed to great extends, giving a whole mixture of designs. Permanent box-pleats were popular in the early 1960s, as were reversible skirts, usually tartan, and from 1961-64, inverted front and back pleats.

* Shapes used creatively in fashion design.

 One distinct piece of clothing was the mini-skirt. Being very short, girls were growing more accustom to showing more and more skin.

The bell bottoms were classic. Wide bell shaped legs worn by hippies, people wore them with anything. Originally started out as NAVY issued denim pants for sailors that became so popular that major manufacturers began making them.  Many people would buy them and take them home and cut them and add more material to make the bell at the bottom even larger.
Square and rounded necklines of the 50s gave way to slim, "shirtwaister" dress-- one with a button-down neckline and cinched waist, was popular with older women. Teenagers in the late 50s and early 60s often wore chunky sweaters of double-knit wool or mohair, which they borrowed from their male friends. The hip-length or longer sweaters were paired with knee-length skirts or tight trousers. From 1960 onwards the turtleneck, or polo neck, sweater were common.

* Popular sweater-cum-dresses with stripes.

The bikini made its debut in the late 1960s, causing an uproar of social issues
* Famous geometrically designed dress by Yves Saint Lauren.

Celebrities like model Tiggy, made the thin-look "in". Teenagers started to have more and more eating disorders just to look beautiful. Dresses were altered to suit girls with slimmer figures. Straight, geometric designs became in hit everywhere.
